About Us
How We Help
Every year, many thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized due to poor performing community animal control shelters who have not adopted the No Kill philosophy. These poor performing shelters kill to make room for new pets and if an animal isn’t adopted fast enough, then they put them down. Our goal is to stop these archaic practices and help give these loving animals a second chance at a great life.

Our Story
The Blount County Humane Society is a grass roots, citizen based, nonprofit 501(c)3 “Animal Protection Organization” in the truest and longest traditions of the movement. We believe that animal protection stands for the preservation of animal life, not the ending of it. Our goal is to make Blount County a no kill community that saves our shelter pets by following the no kill philosophy. If you would like to be a part of the true solution that is dedicated to champion and protect the animals, then you have found the right organization… Welcome animal lovers!
Our Staff
BCHS runs entirely off like-minded volunteers who want to do their part to save animals. Our organization would not be what it is today without our amazing volunteers.
