How We Help
Every year, many thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized due to poor performing community animal control shelters who have not adopted the No Kill philosophy. These poor performing shelters kill to make room for new pets and if an animal isn’t adopted fast enough, then they put them down. Our goal is to stop these archaic practices and help give these loving animals a second chance at a great life.

Together We Can Make A Real Difference
Our organization is pressuring Blount County and the surrounding areas to adopt No Kill practices to give these animals every chance at a new life. If you want to help us on this mission, please consider volunteering or donating. Everything helps!
Find Out About Our Mission
Learn more about what our organization stands for and how we help the animals in our community.
The Blount County Humane Society is a grass roots, citizen based, nonprofit 501(c)3 “Animal Protection Organization” in the truest and longest traditions of the movement. We believe that animal protection stands for the preservation of animal life, not the ending of it. Our goal is to make Blount County a no kill community that saves our shelter pets by following the no kill philosophy. If you would like to be a part of the true solution that is dedicated to champion and protect the animals, then you have found the right organization… Welcome animal lovers!
BCHS runs entirely off like-minded volunteers who want to do their part to save animals. Our organization would not be what it is today without our amazing volunteers.
What People Say
I’ve adopted 2 cats on different occasions…all the staff are extremely kind, knowledgeable and truly caring. My pets were brought to my home so that they could make sure that I had everything needed to care for them. They truly care about finding “forever ” homes for these animals.
Staffed totally with volunteers, they were very courteous and concerned with the welfare of the animals, they truly need our help with DONATIONS and time to help take care of our county
I adopted a pet from them, they were very friendly and very helpful even to this day they still call and txt to check on us. Would definitely recommend going to them and adopting your next fur baby.
